The studio is the very heart of the Jan Machenhauer universe. Situated in Fredriksberg Copenhagen, it is dedicated to the creation of made-to-measure pieces. It serves as a creative laboratory in which to experiment and innovate techniques and designs, and is the cradle of each collection and garment. In addition to this, the studio’s rich archive serves as reference for clients who may wish to renew an older Jan Machenhauer piece or to renew a favorite in a new fabric.

PRODUCTION

Jan Machenhauer Shirts are designed by a small, intimate staff in Jan Machenhauer’s tailoring Studio in Frederiksberg, Copenhagen. The patterns are draped in order to achieve the perfect fit, where handsewn toiles works as prototypes to develop the innovative techniques and detailing, unique to Jan’s designs.

The shirts are tailor made in India, in a close collaboration since 2012. Twice a year, Jan travels to India to oversee the production and carefully chose materials first hand. In the production, each tailor is in charge of the production of one shirt, from cutting stage to finished product. Only in this way, it is possible to reach the perfect finish and to ensure the significant inside finishing of the Jan Machenhauer Shirts.
